Iceland: End cruel fur farming now!

We’ve uncovered terrible suffering on fur farms in Iceland and we, along with our partner Animal Welfare Iceland, urgently need your help to shut this dying industry down for good.

Iceland’s fur farming industry is near collapse with more than 30 operations closing in the last decade. Now is the time for the government of Iceland to end it for good.

Dear Prime Minister, Kristrún Frostadóttir, Minister of Industries, Hanna Katrín Friðriksson and Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate, Jóhann Páll Jóhannson,

I wholeheartedly support Animal Welfare Iceland’s campaign for a ban on fur farming, supported by Humane World for Animals. 

Scientific opinion shows that the needs of animals, like mink, cannot be met on fur farms. Not only are they confined in small wire cages for their whole lives, they are unable to act out their most basic natural behaviors. 

The fur trade is in serious decline in Iceland and around the world. Twenty-four countries have already taken action to end the cruel practice.  

Fur farming not only causes suffering to animals, it also damages the environment and is a risk to public health, all for the sake of frivolous fur fashion. 

I respectfully urge you to take note of scientific opinion and of your citizens’ wishes. Please join many other nations in ending this cruel, unnecessary and outdated practice for good.
