Grizzly bears need your help!
Grizzly bears are making a comeback from the brink of extinction thanks to the Endangered Species Act, but now those same protections are under attack in Congress. And we need your help to fight back!
The Grizzly Bear State Management Act (H.R. 281) would undermine ongoing grizzly bear recovery efforts by directing the Department of Interior to remove federal Endangered Species Act protections from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem grizzly bears, regardless of what bear biologists say they need. Even worse, it would block courts from being able to review this hasty action.
We know from experience that prematurely removing grizzly bears’ ESA protections leads to reckless state management including trophy hunts opposed by the public, jeopardizing populations and gambling billions in conservation investments. Decisions harming species’ recovery under the ESA should be based on scientific evidence, not the whims of politicians. H.R. 281 could spell disaster for grizzly bears, so we must speak up NOW to stop this dangerous bill in its tracks.
