Protect wild horses and burros!

The Administration’s proposed budget could send thousands of wild horses and burros to their death! We need your help now! Contact your federal representatives today to make sure our beloved wild horses are protected.

For years, we have advocated for the protection and humane management of our country’s wild horse and burro populations. Federal legislators have also agreed that killing wild horses and burros is not the answer. But our fight is not over! The Administration’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 removes such protections for America’s icons and will permit “excess” horses to be killed or sold to slaughter.

Our wild horses and burros deserve every chance to live out their lives wild and free. If population management requires interventions, we must do everything possible to ensure those actions are in the best interest of the animals.

For years, Congress has included language to prevent the killing of wild horses and burros but the Administration’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2026 removes such protections from America’s icons and will permit “excess” horses to be killed or sold to slaughter.  

Our wild horses and burros deserve every chance to live out their lives wild and free. If population management requires interventions, we must do everything possible to ensure those actions are in the best interest of the animals. 

Please ensure that existing protections for wild horses and burros remain in this year’s appropriations bill. I hope you will stand firmly against removal of language that would send our nation’s wild horses and burros to slaughter. Thank you for considering my view.
