Nevada: Urge your state senator to prohibit the sale of puppies in pet stores
CRITICAL UPDATE: Cindy Lou’s Law passed the Assembly and is now in the Senate.
Public records show that Nevada pet stores sell puppies from massive puppy mills with awful animal welfare records, where mother dogs are treated like breeding machines and puppies like mere products. No Nevadan would knowingly support this cruelty.
Families who purchase puppies from pet shops are often the victims of deceptive sales tactics and predatory puppy lending schemes. Many end up with a puppy with health problems that can cost thousands of dollars in veterinary visits or lead to a lifetime of medical complications.
Tell your state senator that selling commercially raised dogs in pet stores is inhumane and supports puppy mills. AB487 will prohibit the sale of puppy mill puppies in Nevada pet stores and drive the pet market towards more humane sources like shelters, rescues and responsible breeders.
TAKE ACTION
Please make a brief, polite call to your state senator today and ask them to support Cindy Lou’s Law, named after a puppy who was left to suffer in a pet shop back room and later died. Look up their phone number here. You can say: "As a constituent, I am asking you to support Cindy Lou’s Law (AB487) to end the sale of puppy mill puppies in pet stores."
After making your call (please do not skip that crucial step!), fill in and submit the form below to send a follow-up message.
