Massachusetts: Urge your legislators to co-sponsor H.3935 and S.616
Wildlife trafficking is a global crisis that is threatening elephants and rhinos with extinction. Every year, as many as 15,000 elephants are killed in Africa to supply the illegal ivory trade. Rhino populations are also dwindling, with fewer than 27,000 rhinos remaining in the wild. Massachusetts plays a crucial role in this fight. It was recently ranked among the top states for online ivory sales, and our previous investigations have found a thriving market for ivory. To address this, the Ivory/Rhino Horn Bill (H.3935 and S.616) has been filed in the House and Senate to ban the trade of ivory and rhino horn in the Commonwealth.
This bill is critical to stopping ivory traffickers from exploiting legal loopholes and preventing illegal ivory from entering Massachusetts. By supporting this bill, we can take meaningful steps to protect elephants and rhinos from poaching and trafficking. We need your help to make sure this bill passes.
