Iowa: Stop cruel hunting methods from being added to the state constitution
HJR 7 and SJR 7 are a huge danger to our wildlife in Iowa! Even though fewer than 7% of Iowans hunt, these constitutional amendments would enshrine cruel hunting methods in the state constitution and stop Iowans from using their voice to protect wildlife in the future.
The reality of these hunting methods is heartbreaking. A fox being hunted by hounding will be chased by a pack of dogs through all types of terrain until they are so exhausted they physically can't run anymore. Animals who are baited into a steel-jaw leghold trap or snare can linger for hours on end in excruciating pain until they are killed by bludgeoning or strangling. Studies find that Americans strongly oppose such inhumane and unsporting methods!
