Much of the world sees dogs and cats as their trusted companions, but in some parts, they suffer terribly as victims of the trade in dog and cat meat for human consumption. Dogs and cats used for this industry are mostly stolen pets and street dogs and cats and they endure immense suffering before being slaughtered. The dog and cat meat trade is not only cruel, but is also linked to the spread of rabies and other diseases.

Humane World for Animals is working with our local partners and teams across Asia to shut down dog and cat meat slaughterhouses, restaurants, and farms, intercept dog and cat meat traders’ trucks, fund the care of confiscated and rescued animals, and support efforts to change and enforce better laws.
